What is Applied Kinesiology?
|
Kinesiology is a holistic modality that evaluates structural, biomechanical, and mental/emotional stressors in the human body. Originated by Chiropractor Dr. George Joseph Goodheart in 1964, applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing and combines principles from chiropractic, neurology, nutrition, osteopathy, and traditional Chinese medicine to uncover and address imbalances in the body. Dr. Goodheart observed patterns between muscle weakness and different types of body stress.
The main technique applied is muscle testing which involves putting gentle pressure to specific muscles while the patient resists. Practitioners believe that the response of the muscle indicates the functional status of various organs, systems, and energy pathways in the body. This way, practitioners gain real-time functional insight into how well different body systems are working together which help explain persistent fatigue or performance dips. This holistic method is built on the principle that your physical biochemistry and emotional wellbeing are deeply interconnected and that imbalances in one area can affect the others. Kinesiology employs muscle monitoring, acupressure, and energy corrections as treatment techniques HOW KINESIOLOGY HELPS When our emotional being perceives threat or danger, our physical being embodies the experience and can alter, physiological, biochemical, muscular and postural function to protect oneself from those perceived threats.
